Keep an Eye on the Dutch…

Cos they are everywhere and they are spreading. Last weekend I was at Ikea and never before have I seem so many pregnant women and this is coming from a man that has worked in the maternity wing of Coventry Walsgrave Hospital. Seriously, they were everywhere. Even after I left and went to Praxis they filled the place there too.

Since then I have seen still more of the beasts.

And then I heard the radio news and an article that confirmed my fears. The Dutch Government is now offering money for Dutch students to study abroad. So, as far as I can tell, the Dutch youth are being send around the world in integrate and infiltrate whilst the next generation are being bred to replace them.

So when your government ministers start talking excellent English but with a hint of an odd accent that you can’t place, be afraid. Be very afraid…

The Last Word on the Subject

Yes, the Orc Truck is now complete and was delivered last week. It was (thankfully) well received especially by the rest of the gathered mass of teenage boys that have probably just started to discover the world of Warhammer 40,000.

Well, I still think that I probably got more fun out of making it than he will from owning it, but that is just my good fortune. There are lots of photos of this thing for those that want to take a peek, just click the link below.

And no prizes for guessing what I used for the background image…

My next project is two Great Orcs. The raw figures can also be seen in this album. I’ll start on those again next week.

More of the same…

Yes, another evening of painting the Orc Truck. It’s day four and it is coming together nicely now. Body panels are being applied and the engine is in. There are only a few pieces still unpainted and none of them are very tricky.

Oil spills and rust as well as all the damn bolts and rivets are visible here. Also the deliberately crap (honest) paint job of the truck its self. Orcs just can’t paint that well.

Tomorrow I have to finish it. The truck shouldn’t be a problem, but I still have to do the base and that might be a little more tricky if I want to make it anything special. Well, we’ll see won’t we…

More Painting, More Ironing

I’ve been busy.

The results of my painting can be seen here. The results of my ironing can’t be seen anywhere other than in my room. I don’t generally take pictures of my ironing, you see.

Oh, and for the record, it’s 2am and they are still working on the road outside my house.

Now to try for sleep.

Do I shave my head or not?

Allowed answers are:

  1. I don’t care, I don’t know you, what the hell are you asking me for? – Reply: Because you’re reading my blog so I can ask what I like.
  2. Shave it. Scrape every last trace of hair from your head and then polish it. Oh, and get a tan, you look like a light bulb. - Reply: Erm, yeah, ok.
  3. Trim it back to the skin with a trimmer set to zero. It feels like fur. - Reply: Sounds good, I’ll try it.
  4. Keep it as it is now, a number 2 cut. Otherwise you’ll look like a muppet. - Reply: OK, thanks.
  5. Don’t be a fool, let it grow to a normal length. – Reply: Bog off that it exactly how I hate it.
  6. Never cut it again. Go hippy. Peace man. – Reply: Blow me.

Hair of the Dog

For some time now, I’ve been considering shaving my head. My hair is pretty short already (cut with a 2mm trimmer last Wednesday night) so it’s not that big a step towards total baldness. There are a number of reasons that I’d like to do it. The one that started it all is the fact that it is thinning a lot on top and the front has receded back to the top. This means that the having it so short actually hides the fact that it is thinning so much. Then there is the fact that when I went to the hairdressers last year they actually gave me a discount because there wasn’t much to cut.

My girlfriend used to cut (trim) it but since we are no longer together, that can’t last and I’m not about to go back to paying to have it done. Trimming it myself is possible, but I can’t be sure that I haven’t missed bits. Hair that is 2mm long doesn’t really feel that much different to that which is 4mm long. And there is no way I can be sure to tidy up the back of my neck...

But if I shaved it, then I can feel it all over to check for missed bits. I’ll shave the neck as well so that won’t be a problem. Side burns will have to go though.

So, do I or don’t I? This is the question of the moment.

Of course another issue will be that I shall no longer look like John Terry if I do.

For those that have an interest, I have added a goatman to my Little Men collection. I've given to my son as a birthday present and he seemed to like it (but it was considerably overshadowed by a Nintendo DSi, so it stood little chance).

Anyway, photos of it have been added here.

Next will come two more but I am not currently sure if they will be heroes or monsters. I must check the online website t see what I can find that are suitable. Watch this space...

Work Ethic Gone Mad

You’ve all read my posts about the road works that are going on outside my house, I’m sure. (If you haven’t, scroll down...) Well last night I was laying in bed at half past midnight listening to the dulcet tones of what I think was (I can’t be sure) a man wielding a chain saw. I can’t be sure which direction it came from and there was no way that I was getting out of bed and my solution to the problem was to put my ear plugs in again, but I have a nasty feeling that it was the men still working on the road. This, added to the fact that I was woken again at 7am by more banging and crashing of heavy machinery which was certainly the men working on the road, I am beginning to wonder if English civil engineers are in any way related to their Dutch counterparts. Has anyone in the UK ever considered the possibility of a working day being from 6:30am to 00:30? I certainly haven’t and would very much like to explain to whoever it was working these shifts that I don’t approve. Point one is that I clearly need more sleep than they do and point two is that they are making me look bad.

Stop it either way.
