This is the top of the stairs that come up to my landing. To the left of the picture is a window that we generally keep open.
Several times I’ve come up the stairs and heard a bird fly away. I kinda assumed that the bird as just looking in the window for a dry place to sit, but it would appear that the little sod was entering with intent. Not much intent, but enough to lay an egg. I thought that pigeon eggs would have been bigger than that, but apparently not.
Just in case it’s not quite clear exactly how little building took place before the egg was laid…

awwww maybe her mummy never had a chance to teach her how to build a nest, she tried though
Maybe it was that same imperative that makes you look for a public toilet in a hurry.
Why are there no screens on windows there? A screen would keep lazy pigeons out of the house....
I would assume you're not going to leave that nest there. The carpet will be covered in pigeon poop in no time. Ew!
Builder! Typical! Just not interested in their craft anymore...
Sx
I don't know ...
Perhaps it could be seen as efficiency: putting in the minimum effort required to keep the egg off the floor.
Or maybe it was just an English pigeon; you know what they say about English builders ...
It's a minimalist pigeon, and if that egg hatches, I'll be really surprised!! Prepare to become the chick's "uncle" if it does... :D
Pigeons are nothing but flying rats.
lady pige did not need to build in nest as a handy piece of carpet is more than adequate
Pigeons are almost as evil as cats, you were lucky you caught the infiltrator!
Glad I'm not alone in hating pigeons! How do you feel about Dolphins?
