Dreams vs Reality

Dreams - I dream of being woken by the movement of the lady next to me. Her subtle stirrings causing me to gently wake; take in the dawn through the open window and feel the warm air from outside across my face. The birds sing occasionally.

Reality - The jack hammers started early this morning. They are digging up the road outside the front of the house and I first heard their hammering at about 6:45am. They started at 06:30 but since I have to wear ear plugs to sleep, I managed to sleep through a little of their noise this morning. And I don't mean the hand held jack hammers, I mean the sort that are directly attached to the front of a JCB type thing. We have two of them working on the road at the moment and then more JCB type things pick up the broken tarmac and drop it (from as high as possible) into nearby trucks. The lady in question does not sleep in my bed and when the central heating fails, about once a week, it's damn cold. The fresh aroma of diesel fumes fill the air but I am happy to report that as yet, they are unable to pollute the light coming in through my window.

assuming that it will move slowly down the road... I'm guessing at least a week before I can't hear it though...

You and me both. And I also have the flipping fumes. I live in the middle of sodding nowhere... builders follow me everywhere...

Country life certainly has its upsides! :D All I have to worry about is the fresh smell of farm when the wind passes the wrong way over the local pig farm!

What a pity your last few months in AMS is being spoilt by road works!!

Must be two of the buggers very close.

But they didn't start until 7am today. Woot! Must have got stuck in traffic...

i was disturbed by a loud pigeon this morning.

The lambs will be born soon, and then the peace really *will* be shattered.

At least in Blighty roadworks never start until 8am. Plus they must have a brew before they start so noise doesn't usually commence until 8:30.

I usually find that roadworks happen near my house only when I've been on a late shift the night before.

Hello, I was sent here by MJ from Infomaniac.

I'm just had a strange dream too. I dreamed I was so sick of being encouraged to work harder by people who did no work that I gatecrashed one of their conferences...and found myself unexpectedly followed by dozens who felt the same way.

The dozens became hundreds, and I found myself nominal leader of an angry that (a) I hadn't planned (b) I couldn't control and (c) I didn't really want but didn't want to disappoint.

It seems politics has entered my dreams too.
